NEW ORLEANS – Back-to-back home runs by Zach Pohto and Nolan Church in the first inning allowed the University of New Orleans to lead wire-to-wire in a 3-2 victory over North Florida on Saturday afternoon at Maestri Field.

Pohto and Church belted pitches off of Tommy Organ (4-2) over the left field wall to become the first UNO (4-50) pair to hit back-to-back home runs since T.J. Baxter and Jeff Lanning pulled it off against ULM on Mar. 14, 2008. Church was 3-for-4 for the game, his final contest as a Privateer.

After UNF (27-27) scored a run in the fourth, Cameron Wheeless extended the Privateer advantage back to two in the sixth inning.

Wheeless doubled to lead off the frame – part of a 2-for-4 outing – before scoring on a Michael Tedesco single. The Wheeless at-bat ended the day for Organ, who allowed three runs on five hits in five official innings.

Making the final start of his career, Tyler Sanders (2-11) put together his second straight quality start in five days. The Slidell native followed his seven strong innings against LSU on Tuesday by allowing two runs – one earned – while striking out nine over eight innings.

Coby Landry pitched a scoreless ninth for his second save of the season to close the game against the Ospreys, who were led by Michael Smith's 2-for-4 game at the plate.

The game concludes the season for the Privateers, who will return in 2012 to a remodeled Maestri Field that will include a renovated grandstand, new press box and concession area.
