UNO Women's Tennis Falls to Undefeated Buffalo

Privateers Resume Schedule Saturday vs Alcorn State

NEW ORLEANS – Buffalo remained undefeated on the season with a 7-0 win over the New Orleans women's tennis team at the University Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon.

Playing at a true road site for just the second time this year, BU (9-0) was able to maintain its unblemished record by sending UNO (3-10) to its fourth loss in four home matches this season.

The Bulls won each of the doubles' matches in roughly an hour. The closest result for the Privateers came at the No. 2 court where Fanny Benincasa and Marta Sans dropped an 8-4 match to Anamaria Candanoza and Gopika Kapoor.

When play turned to singles, BU won each of the six singles' matches in straight sets.

UNO freshman Soledad Calderon Arroyo nearly forced a third stanza in her match at the No. 3 position before falling 6-2, 7-6 (10) to Tamara Markovic.

The Privateers' previously scheduled men's and women's tennis dual against Jackson State on Friday at 2 p.m. was postponed due to travel issues JSU faced in its return from Florida. The coaches from both institutions will convene in the next week to re-schedule.

With the UNO match against JSU postponed, the women's tennis team will join their male counterparts at 10 a.m. on Saturday for a dual against Alcorn State. Admission is free.
