Seven wins and eleven losses with eleven games to go…
This is certainly not the record you or I, or anyone affiliated with this team had hoped for. However, this record does not deter the coaching staff or any of the players from working hard day in and day out. Coach Champ has feverishly worked to find a solution for our losses, even going as far as to change her practice plans completely. We now spend well over thirty minutes of practice just scrimmaging. Coach Champ isn't the only one that has changed something. Our team has changed our pregame warm-up drills, our pregame cheers in the huddle, and we no longer sing our raps in the locker room. We're searching for answers…
Practice this past week has had a little less scrimmage time because recently our team was plagued with injury. Some injuries were minor and some were career ending.
Recently, Talisha Bridges was forced to the sidelines after sustaining an injury in the North Texas game, Brittany Helm was forced to miss practice, and unfortunately, Talishia Young suffered a knee injury in the UALR game this past Wednesday.
Bridges returned to practice Saturday after a couple days of rest, and Helm returned to practice today. As for Talishia Young, her presence on the basketball court will be greatly missed by everyone on this team.
As for off the court activity, we have successfully begun the Spring semester. At some point last week, everyone made a trip over to the Academic Center to visit Ms. Stacey, our academic coordinator, to finalize schedules and pick up books. Let's hope that we have as much success in the classroom this semester as we did last semester.
With eleven games left we will continue to work hard on and off the basketball court. Here's hoping that we end the season the way we started it…with WINS!
Until Next Time,
GO BIG BLUE!!
