Saints Super Win Unites Lady Privateers (Feb. 13, 2010)
On the court this week with the Lady Privateers…
Just as we all thought we were safe and in the
clear, karma rears its ugly head to prove that once again… we were wrong. Coach
Champ never ceases to surprise us. In honor of Mardi Gras, Coach Champ was so kind
and brought out her favorite and fiendishly clever tool…THE BUBBLE! Yes you read it right, the BUBBLE has returned! We all
enjoyed some wonderful transition drills yesterday morning in practice because
as you know with the bubble, EVERY SHOT IS A MISS!
Tuesday we will travel to Monroe for one of our
final four scheduled games before the conference tournament starts. Next
Saturday, will be our last home game and Senior Night. I hope that you all will
come out to support and honor our seniors who have worked so hard during their
time here at UNO.
Off the court...
This week has certainly been a fantastic time to be
in N'awlins. The Saints won the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras parades have been
going on all week. In Boston, we have the St. Patrick's Day parade that draws
thousands of people and our sports teams have won many of Championships. Afterall
we are nicknamed the City of Champions, but I have never seen a city come
together in the way that New Orleans has. The Saints' Super Bowl win united
this city in a way unlike any other. It is honestly amazing how sports can
unite complete strangers. As I experience this city for the first time, I can't
help but parallel our team to the Saints.
This game has united 14 girls from 2 Countries, 5
states, and 13 cities led by only the best. Yes, like the Saints we are
perceived as the underdog. But in the words of Coach Carter, “If they can do it, so can we!”
Until Next Time,
GO BIG BLUE!!
