Hello Lady Privateer Friends, Family, and Fans…
Our game last Saturday in Arkansas marked the conclusion of regular season play. Unfortunately, a number of players were plagued with a stomach virus for part of the long road trip. While in Arkansas, we were given the chance to bond once again, as a team, just as we had bonded earlier in the season at the retreat. On one of our off days in between games, the coaches allowed all of us to visit an arcade where we enjoyed dinner, laser tag, and a number of other games. We returned to New Orleans late Saturday night and we were given two off days Sunday and Monday to regroup, refocus and study for midterms.
On Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon we returned to practice and got right back to work. This is an exciting time for both the seniors and the freshmen. For the seniors they are playing FAU again just like last year and for the freshmen we are experiencing the conference tournament for the first time. In the words of Coach Champ, “This isn't a rematch, its revenge!” Everyone has come to practice this week focused and willing to do whatever it takes to beat FAU. With that said though, we have been primarily focused on controlling what we can control and that is OUR play. We have reviewed all our offenses and options in those offenses, done a lot of shooting, and worked on our defenses. I think the intensity is rising all around.
We will practice early tomorrow morning before we get on the bus for the long road trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas. As we're on the bus traveling, Talishia Young will be undergoing knee surgery. Our thoughts and prayers will be with her as she is in the hospital for surgery.
If there was ever a time to ask, “BIG BLUE WHAT YOU GONNA DO?” now's the time!
Until next time…
GO BIG BLUE!
