Privateers Host Texas State in Lakefront Arena Twinbill on Saturday

NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans men's basketball team will continue a three-game homestand with a 2 p.m. Saturday contest against Texas State at Lakefront Arena.

The contest will be part of a doubleheader with the women's team, which will host SMU at 4:30 p.m.

UNO (1-1) is coming off a 74-65 win over Southern-New Orleans on Thursday. Senior guard Billy Humphrey scored a career-high 26 points, and the Privateers shot 79 percent from the field in the first half.

Ejike Hart also had a career-best 11 points to go along with seven rebounds. UNO did struggle on the boards, as the smaller Knights out-rebounded UNO 28-26 (14-3 offensive).

Texas State (1-2) is coming off a narrow 85-82 loss to Cal State-Northridge on Tuesday. The Bobcats, who have lost two straight after a season-opening victory against Howard Payne, are averaging 82 points per game.

Junior forward Cameron Johnson leads TSU in both scoring (12.0 points per game) and rebounding (8.0 rbg). The Bobcats have nine players averaging 17 minutes or more and each has already started at least one game.

Humphrey paces UNO with 18.5 points per game, while sophomore guard Charles Carmouche is scoring 13.5 ppg.

The two teams met last year in San Marcos, with UNO taking an 85-81 win on Dec. 15, 2008. The Privateers tallied a season high for points scored.
