NEW ORLEANS – Senior
Brady Bennett finished with his second consecutive 208 to lead New Orleans to a third-place finish at the 2021 Derek Dolenc Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at the Gateway National Golf Links.
Adding his name to the Privateer record books for the second time in two weeks Bennett finished the second and third rounds with back-to-back scores of 69 and became just the 11
th Privateer since 1992 to fire back-to-back rounds below 70. Teammates
Ryan Fulton and
Florian Moosmeier have also accomplished the feat back in 2019.
Earning a trophy for his runner up finish, Brady finished three strokes shy of UT-Martin's Garrett Chumley at five-under-par over three rounds. Bennett led the tournament with 15 birdies, including five in the final round.
Florian Moosmeier continued his solid play as well finishing with a score of 211 after rounds of 72, 70, and 69. The German finished tied for third – he and Bennett are the first pair of Privateers to finish in the top-three of a tournament since Homero de Toledo and Ulisses de Toledo Jr. both finished tied for second in the 2017 James S. Litz Memorial.
After a rough outing on Monday,
Grayson Gilbert was the third Privateer to finish the third round below 70, carding a 69 (-2). Grayson sank birdies on five, 12, 13, and 16 with only two bogeys during the final round.

Henry Augenstein with a 234 after rounds of 78, 76, and 80 as well as
Lukas Heckmann with a score of 235 after rounds of 82, 75 and 78.

UT-Martin won the tournament with a score of 855 (+3), while Chumley won the individual crown with a tournament best 205 (-8).

HEAD COACH JEFF LORIO
"I'm really proud of the guys today. It was a great effort, especially compared to the rest of the field. That's now two events in a row where our third round was our best round of the tournament. That's something we stress and want to be our identity."
"Obviously we need to clean up a lot of things that happened on Monday but once again it was a solid tournament where we picked up some victories against some really solid teams - programs we have not had a lot of success against over recent years. I'm really excited about the start of the season."
(on Brady Bennett)
"What a great start to the year for Brady. He has played very consistent golf over the month of September. He has worked so hard since his freshman year here and I could not be prouder of where his game is currently. He is not only one of the best players on our team, but one of the best players in our conference."
