This week’s UNOPrivateers.com Student-Athlete of the Week is Sofija Karalic.

The senior posted an unblemished 4-0 record during the week on what will be her last trip away from the Lakefront during a four-year career at UNO.

In singles’ play, Karalic won both matches she contested in straight sets. Against Eckerd College, she defeated Taylor Bullock 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 5 court before two days later dispatching Valdosta State’s Jessica Tuggle 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 6 position.

In doubles’ play, Karalic and partner Kristina Martic also had no problems going 2-0 on the week. The duo defeated a pair from Eckerd by an 8-4 score before downing a tandem from Valdosta State 8-6.

Karalic is 9-4 this season in singles’ play and has posted a 34-30 singles’ mark during her tenure at UNO, paced by a 14-5 record in 2011-12. In doubles’ play, Karalic is 24-30 with this season’s 8-4 record – including 7-4 with Martic – her best in pairs’ action.
