Swimming Takes Several Top Tens at Miami Quad Meet

The University of New Orleans women's swimming team recorded several top ten performances at a quad meet with Miami, Florida Atlantic and the University of Tampa Saturday morning at the Norman Whitten Student Union Pool.

The 200 medley relay team of Ashley McClelland, Erika Granesater, Cathryn Garvey and Lindsey Townsend claimed fifth with a time of 1:53.82, placing the team just seven seconds shy of first place.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Tory Sciortino, Erica Pasquini, Carina Morell, and Courtney Hamilton placed fifth with a time of 3:44.41.

McClelland took fifth in the 100 backstroke by finishing the event in 1:01.23, while Sciortino (1:01.82) and Morell (1:03.69) were eighth and tenth respectively.

Sciortino and Morell continued their success in the 200 backstroke as they had times of 2:13.02 and 2:17.97 to take sixth and ninth place.

McClelland had another top ten performance by placing eighth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.46.

Sarah Gros had a pair of ninth place finishes. Gros finished the 200 freestyle in 2:00.96 and the 500 freestyle in 5:25.15.

Granesater added three more top tens on the day to her tally. She earned a seventh place showing in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.47), an eighth place outing in the 200 butterfly (2:15.24) and a tenth place performance in the 100 butterfly (1:00.96)

Briana Taylor had a trio of top ten performances on the day as she took eighth in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.42) and tenth in both the 100 breaststroke (1:13.97) and the 400 IM (4:56.22).

Alissa Dundes finished seventh in the 1000 freestyle (13:07.50), while Garvey finished eighth in the 100 freestyle (55.31).

UNO lost three competitions as they fell 183-76 to Tampa, 245-43 to Florida Atlantic, and 245-40 to Miami.
