Privateers Swimming Completes Competition With a Win

HOUSTON - The University of New Orleans women's swimming team completed competition at the Phill Hansel Duals on Saturday afternoon capped by winning their first dual under head coach Randy Horner.

The Privateers dropped duals to Brigham Young (297-50), Rice (266-49) and Houston (244-101) while defeating Sun Belt rival Florida International (178-154).

In the dual against FIU, the Privateers added to their win total against FIU from the day before when they won seven of ten events by winning the 400 yard medley relay, 200 fly, 200 back, 100 free and 200 free relay.

Top marks for the Privateers included Lindsey Townsend finishing eighth in the 200 fly with a time of of 2:12.99 and Ashley McClelland finishing eighth in the 200 back with a time of 2:11.06.

"We showed improvement this week from our last meet, showing that we can be competitive against strong teams" said Horner. "This was another step in the right direction as we move forward with our goal of moving up in the Sun Belt."

UNO will get back in the pool when they face Delta State, Centenary and Alabama in Cleveland, Miss. on Nov. 10.
