CLEVELAND, Miss - The University of New Orleans women's swimming team
picked up their second dual win of the season on Saturday afternoon, avenging an earlier loss
to Centenary with a 75-52 win over the Ladies.
The Privateers dropped duals to Delta State (107-32) and Alabama (101-36) to drop to 2-7 in dual competition this season.
History was made as UNO entered a diver for the first time since the program was brought back in 2004. The debuting Melanie Fenwick finished fifth in the one meter dive, giving the Privateers points in the diving competition, a luxury they have not been afforded prior to this meet..
Ashley McClelland had three top five finishes placing second in the 200
IM (2:15.11), third in the 100 back (1:00.20) and third in the 200 back
(2:12.19).
Fly specialist
Lindsey Townsend placed 4th in the 200 (2:13.08) and 5th in the 100 (1:01.64).
Other top finishes included
Tory Sciortino placing fifth in the 100 back (1:02.52),
Cathryn Garvey finishing fifth in the 100 free (55.90) and
Tess Sweatman swimming a season-best 25.26 in the 50 free to place fourth in the event.
UNO, just one dual win shy of tying the school record of three set last year, will continue competition in the pool on Dec. 1 at North Florida.
