SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of New Orleans closed play at the
UTSA Thanksgiving Classic with a 65-44 loss to Arkansas on Saturday
afternoon.
UNO (3-2) was led in scoring by
Le'Della English, who had 10 points.

As the Lady'Backs extended their lead after the break to as high as 24, the Lady Privateers would continue to give Arkansas problems especially on the glass where UNO would outrebound their foes by a 20-13 count on the offensive side. UNO crashed the boards each time, several times having multiple UNO players hitting the ground in an effort to keep the ball in the hands of the Lady Privateers.
Cookie Johnson had six points in the second half as UNO continued to show their fight til the final buzzer, but the shots would not fall for the Lady Privateers as they were held to 25 percent shooting in the game.
UNO would pull the game within three points at 23-20, after trailing by as many as nine in the first half. The rally was capped by an English three-point play and a
Jada Frazier three-pointer. Arkansas went on a 8-0 run to close scoring in the first half to take a 31-20 lead into the break.
Despite starting the game making only three of their first 19 field goal attempts, UNO kept within striking distance of Arkansas aided by six of eight shooting from the charity stripe in the first half. The previous night, the Lady Privateers only made five of 15 shots from the line.
UNO returns home on Tuesday night to face the Colonels of Nicholls State with tip scheduled for 7 p.m. The game against the Colonels will be the first home contest for the Lady Privateers since they kicked off the season with a win over Stephen F. Austin on Nov. 11.
