STATESBORO, Ga. ? The University of New Orleans women's swim team had some strong performances at a recent dual meet hosted by Georgia Southern this past Saturday.
A handful of season bests were set at the meet, which saw UNO go head-to-head against Georgia Southern and the Savannah College of Art and Design.
UNO junior Ashley McClelland had a solid meet, posting three top-three finishes, including a second in both the 100 backstroke (1:00.04 time) and the 200 individual medley (2:14.29). She also finished third in the 200 backstroke (2:13.66).
Kate Garvey had a season-best time in the 200 freestyle (2:00.22), the 100 free (54.77) and the 200 IM (2:19.95).
Erica Granesater set a season best in the 100 butterfly (1:01.65).
“All in all it was a strong showing, but we just fell a little short,” said UNO head coach Randy Horner. “It is tough coming off Christmas training and getting right into it, but we had a lot of solid performances. It is definitely something to build on as we prepare for the Sun Belt meet.”
UNO will be back in action on Saturday, competing in a dual meet against SBC rival Arkansas-Little Rock, Lambuth and host-Delta State. The meet will begin at 2 p.m.
