NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin used 7 of 11 three-point
shooting in the first half to build a 18-point lead before holding off
the University of New Orleans women's basketball team for a 66-63 win
on Saturday night.
SFA (5-3) received 19 points from Ebony Alexander and 12 from Tammara Marion. Jordan Ford had a team-high six rebounds.
UNO (4-4) dropped their eighth straight road contest despite a 17 point
effort from 
Cookie Johnson who made five three-pointers in the contest,
including four in the second half.
Jada Frazier and 
Candice McGee had 12 points apiece while 
Brittany Helm added 11. Both McGee and 
Ty Felder had 10 rebounds each.
After a 5-0 Lady Privateer run gave UNO an 8-4 advantage early in the
contest. SFA made consecutive three-pointers to spark a 19-3 run,
giving the host squad a 12-point lead. 
The Ladyjack advantage grew to 18 thanks to 7 of 11 shooting from
beyond the arc for a 63.6 clip before UNO began to cut into the lead,
pulling within 10 at 40-30 at the half. Frazier had nine points in the
opening 20 minutes
The momentum from the last few minutes of the first half carried to the
second 20 minutes of play as the Lady Privateers went on a 13-3 run to
tie the game at 43 apiece. UNO would finally take the lead at 48-46 on
Johnson's third three-pointer of the half.
The two teams would trade leads with neither team building more than a
three-point advantage before two late steals went SFA's way to kick the
lead up to five before a final Lady Privateer basket. 
The Lady Privateers will turn their attention to conference play for
the next two games, starting with a 7 p.m. contest on Dec. 7 at
