KSU started the game shooting 5 of 7 from the field to take a 12-8 lead. UNO scored the next seven points to take a 15-12 lead with Helm contributing five during the run.
The momentum swung the other way in favor of the Golden Flashes who built an eight-point advantage at 30-22. As they did earlier in the half, the Lady Privateers responded with Rachele Monroe jump-starting a 5-0 run with a three-pointer to pull within three causing KSU head coach Bob Lindsay to call a timeout.
Holmes led UNO in the opening half on 5 of 6 shooting for 13 points, but it was not enough as the Golden Flashes took a 39-33 lead into the break.
Four different players put points on the board for the Lady Privateers as the team took their first lead since the 12:27 mark of the first half with a 9-2 run to open the second half with a 42-41 lead.
KSU bounced back from the one point deficit advantage before UNO jumped back on top 61-58 on a Candice McGee lay-up. The teams would go on to change lead two times down the stretch with the Golden Flashes having both attempts to win the game in the final three seconds of regulation come up short.
The Lady Privateers will continue their homestand with a Thursday contest at high noon against Sun Belt West Division rival Denver. The tilt will be available on UNOPrivateers.com
