Box Score NEW ORLEANS ? Ole Miss sophomore guard Chris Warren scored a career-high 29 points on 9-of-16 shooting, and the visiting Rebels shot 53 percent from the field in a 78-65 victory over New Orleans on Saturday afternoon at Lakefront Arena.
Warren had five 3-pointers and was one of three scorers in double figures as Ole Miss (6-2) won its road opener. David Huertas, the team's leading scorer, had 12 points despite fighting constant foul trouble while Terrico White had 11 points ? nine in the first half.
Kyndall Dykes had a season-best 20 points and eight rebounds for UNO (2-5). He also held his own in the defensive assignment on Huertas ? holding the Rebels' leading scorer to a 3-for-5 day from the field while forcing five turnovers.
T.J. Worley had 12 points on 4-of-16 shooting, while Darrian McKinstry and Jaroslav Tyrna had 11 each. Tyrna, who was 9-of-10 from the free-throw line, also added eight boards.
Ole Miss shot 53 percent from the field and held the hosts to just 33 percent. The Rebel bench outscored the UNO reserves 22-5.
The Privateers, though, stayed in it thanks to a 22-for-25 (88 percent) afternoon from the free-throw line.
In the first half, UNO used a 12-3 run to take a 27-26 lead with 4:32 remaining. But the Rebels responded with a 16-5 spurt to close out the half and give Ole Miss a 42-32 halftime lead.
The Rebels took a 57-45 advantage with 11:46 to play after a pair of free throws by Terrance Henry before UNO fought back with a 12-1 run to cut the margin to 58-57 with 7:58 left.
Ole Miss, though, would outscore UNO 16-3 during the next 5:10 to put it away.
The Privateers struggled from the field ? shooting 30 percent in the second half. UNO did out-rebound Ole Miss 32-31 (18-10 offensive).
UNO will take final exams next week before returning to action next Saturday with a 7:05 p.m. matchup at Houston Baptist.
