ULM's Hooper Scores 25 as Warhawks Win at UNO

NEW ORLEANS ? Louisiana-Monroe junior guard Tony Hooper had a game-high 25 points and Jordan Payne added 17 off the bench to lead the Warhawks to a 74-68 win at New Orleans on Saturday.

The Warhawks (9-15, 3-9 Sun Belt) went 23-of-32 from the free-throw line to help ULM improve to 3-10 on the road this year.

Jonas Brown had 16 points, while Afam Nweke had a game-high 12 rebounds.

UNO (15-9, 5-7 Sun Belt) was hampered by 37 percent shooting, including 29 percent in the second half. Bo McCalebb led the Privateers with 20 points but was just 8-of-22 from the field.

McCalebb also paced UNO with nine rebounds and five assists. Kyndall Dykes tallied 14 points, and Shaun Reynolds had 10.

Early on, the Privateers were hot from the floor. UNO was 10-of-17 from the field to take a 21-11 lead eight minutes into the game. But ULM closed the half by outscoring the Privateers 26-13 to take a 37-34 lead at halftime.

The Warhawks never surrendered the lead in the second half, though the Privateers got the lead down to one on two separate occasions. ULM led by as many as nine early in the second half.

The two teams combined for 45 fouls, with UNO getting whistled for 26 violations.
