Dykes Scores 23 Points as UNO Cruises Past Loyola

Box Score

NEW ORLEANS ? Kyndall Dykes had 23 points on 10-for-15 shooting as New Orleans cruised past Loyola-New Orleans 77-56 on Monday at Lakefront Arena.

T.J. Worley scored 14 points, and Darrian McKinstry had nine points and a season-best seven assists off the bench for UNO (8-9).

The Privateers shot 52.9 percent from the field and forced 27 turnovers.

It was the final non-conference game of the year for UNO, which went 5-6 against non-league competition.

Ryan Brock, who was a freshman walk-on at UNO last year, led Loyola (9-4) with 10 points. It was an exhibition contest for the Wolfpack, an NAIA member.

UNO scored more points in the first half (47) than it did in Saturday's 62-46 loss to Arkansas-Little Rock.

The game was tight through the first 10 minutes of the half, with UNO holding a slim 17-13 lead with 10:33 to play in the frame.

But the Privateers broke the game open with a 17-5 run in the final six minutes. UNO took advantage of 16 Loyola turnovers in the opening stanza to take a 47-26 lead at halftime.

The Wolfpack, who never led in the game, outscored UNO 11-7 in the first five minutes of the second half. But Loyola never got the deficit under 17 points in the final frame.

Loyola did out-rebound UNO 35-29 (12-6 offensive) and shot 40 percent from the field.

UNO defeated the Wolfpack for the second straight year and improved to 5-0 all-time against the Wolfpack.
