Troy Tops UNO, Fourth Straight SBC Road Loss for Privateers

Box Score TROY, Ala. - The University of New Orleans lost their fourth straight Sun Belt Conference road contest, falling to Troy 83-72 on Thursday night at Trojan Arena.

UNO (8-11, 3-5 SBC) made nine three-pointers on the night, to equal the efforts of the Trojans, who lead the league in attempted three-pointers.

T.J. Worley, who made four of the three-pointers, scored 21 points to lead the Privateers. Justin Archie, in his first start of the season, contributed a career-high 16 points.

Kyndall Dykes rounded out the double-figure scorers as notched his first career double-double with a 14 point, 11 rebound effort. The 11 rebounds represent the first time the New Orleans, La. native has reached double-digits in the rebounding column in his career.

Troy (10-10, 5-3 SBC) was led by Brandon Hazzard, who scored 26 points on 7 of 13 shooting.  Michael Vogler and Richard Delk added 18 and 16 points, respectively.

The Trojans carried a 44-29 lead into halftime after opening up a 19-8 advantage in the first seven minutes of the contest. Hazard was the catalyst of the strong start, scoring 10 of Troy's first 13 points.

UNO would threaten the Trojans' grasp on the lead, as Destin Damachoua scored five points to start a 9-2 run, which cut the Troy advantage to four at 21-17. The Trojans responded to the run by going on a 23-12 run to close out the opening half.

Troy opened the second half where they left off, extending their lead to 17 at 57-40. Three baskets from beyond the arc by the Privateers, including two from Worley, sparked a 14-5 run to cut the advantage to eight, 62-54 with 11:04 remaining in the contest.

UNO would get within five points of the Trojans on several occasions late in the game, the last of which came at 73-68 on a Darrian McKinstry three-pointer.

That was as close as it would get for the Privateers as the Trojans scored nine of the game's final 13 points, building a lead as large as 11 before winning the game by nine.

Next up for the Privateers is a Saturday night contest at Lakefront Arena against Middle Tennessee. The game will start at 7 p.m., part of a doubleheader with the women who tip-off at 4:30 p.m.
