Petrovic, Gregoire, Wullings Highlight UNO Performance at LSU Swim and Dive Invite

BATON ROUGE, La. - Petar Petrovic, Jarryd Gregoire and Bo John Wullings were the top performers for the University of New Orleans as they closed out competition at the LSU Swimming and Diving Invitational in Baton Rouge, La. on Saturday afternoon.

While the UNO men lost to No. 17 ranked LSU 250-97 and the women fell to the Tigers (282-57), Houston (253-90) and Rice (263.50-65.50), the team saw one record broken in addition to several season and career best performances.

Wullings set the school-record on Friday night as he touched the wall second to LSU's Luis Gonzalez in the 1000 free. The freshman from The Netherlands finished the event in a time of 9:40.64, topping his previous mark of 9:40.96 set on Oct. 31, 2008 against Southern Illinois.

Petrovic won two events over the course of two days, taking the 100 back in a time of 50.48 on Friday, besting a field that included three swimmers. The next day, Petrovic returned to the pool and won the 200 back in a time of 1:50.81, the second fastest time in school history.

Gregoire also won an event, taking the 100 free in a time of 46.96.

Lindsey Townsend's career-best performance in the 400 IM (4:45.26) highlighted a group of swimmers, establishing season or career-bests.

Sarah Gros in the 200 free had a season-best, as she finished the event in a time of 1:58.98 while Birkir Mar Jonsson shaved nearly four seconds off his time in the 200 free, when he touched the wall in a time of 1:46.12. Alissa Dundes rounded out the group with season-bests, finishing the 200 back in a time of 2:26.18.

The meet was the final competition prior to the Sun Belt Conference Championships, which run Feb. 18-21 in Nashville, Tenn.
