NEW ORLEANS - Billy Humphrey tied his career high with 26 points, as New Orleans used a second-half surge to rally past Mobile 65-51 on Wednesday evening at Lakefront Arena.
Humphrey, who set his previous career high last Thursday, was 8-for-14 from the field and 9-for-11 from the free throw line to help the Privateers (3-1) wrap up a perfect three-game homestand.
The Georgia transfer did not start the game due to a "coach's decision," but the Chicago product helped the UNO bench score 44 points.
He had 14 points in a second half that saw UNO outscore Mobile 35-19. The Rams, who upset Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday, led 32-30 at halftime and only trailed by four with 5:29 to play.
But the Privateers outscored Mobile 14-4 down the stretch.
"The difference in the second half was our defense," said UNO head coach Joe Pasternack. "We started to get some stops, and it led to some transition baskets."
Charles Carmouche, who also came off the bench, scored 14 points - 12 in the first half. Jaroslav Tyrna also added 10 points.
Donte Walker scored 14 points to lead the Rams (4-1). Mobile, an NAIA member playing the game as an exhibition, shot just 25 percent in the second half and 36 percent overall.
The two teams combined for 42 turnovers, with Mobile committing 23 miscues.
The Privateers opened the second half with a 19-8 run, as Mobile missed 11 of its first 14 shots. Humphrey and Tyrna combined to score 19 of UNO's first 21 second-half points.
UNO was 24-for-33 from the free throw line, while Mobile was just 6-for-10. Mobile was whistled for 28 fouls.
The Privateers will travel to North Carolina State for a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday.
