DENVER, Colo. - Nate Rohnert scored 27 points and was one of four Pioneers in double figures, as Denver took a 75-66 win over visiting New Orleans on Thursday at Magness Arena.
Rohnert was 8-for-10 from the field and added seven assists as DU (11-5, 4-1 Sun Belt Conference) improved to 10-1 at home this year.
DU's Brian Stafford tallied 15 points, while Sabatino Chen and Rob Lewis each had 11. The Pioneers shot 60 percent from the field and were 23-for-30 from the free throw line (76 percent).
Freshman Carl Blair had a season-best 16 points for UNO (6-10, 1-4), while Charles Carmouche also had 16 before fouling out. Ejike Hart had 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
The senior forward helped UNO out-rebounded Denver 25-18 (7-2 offensive).
UNO leading scorer Billy Humphrey left early in the first half with an apparent knee injury. Humphrey, who entered the night second in the league in scoring at 18.3 points per game, missed two games in late December with a knee injury.
"Our kids competed hard but we just didn't guard well enough," said UNO head coach Joe Pasternack. "(Denver) executes so well, and they are so hard to prepare for. Give them credit, they did an excellent job."
The Privateers were up 15-12 with nine minutes left in the first half before Denver went on an 11-0 run during the next four minutes to grab a 23-15 advantage.
The Pioneers led 29-21 at halftime, and UNO never got closer than four the rest of the way.
Denver stayed ahead thanks to 68 percent shooting in the final frame.
UNO shot 47 percent overall and was 6-for-11 (54 percent) from 3-point range.
The Privateers were whistled for 25 fouls, while DU picked up 21 fouls.
UNO will continue the SBC road swing with a 4 p.m. matchup at North Texas on Saturday.
