NEW ORLEANS - Josh White scored a game-high 18 points to lead visiting North Texas to a 68-46 win at New Orleans on Thursday at Lakefront Arena.
Eric Tramiel scored 15 points - all in the first half - and Tristan Thompson added 11 as the Mean Green (16-8, 9-5 Sun Belt Conference) beat UNO (7-18, 2-12) for the second time this season.
Freshman point guard Carl Blair led the Privateers with 11 points, while Devin McDonald and Destin Damachoua each scored 10. It was a season-high point tally for Damachoua, a senior from Paris, France.
UNO was missing its two leading scorers. Senior guard Billy Humphrey, who is out indefinitely with a knee injury, missed his ninth straight game while sophomore guard Charles Carmouche was out due to illness.
The duo is combining to score 29 points per game this year.
North Texas took advantage early, racing out to a 17-3 lead keyed by Tramiel. The Mean Green never led by less than double figures after the 15:36 mark of the first half.
UNO shot 23 percent from the field and was 1-for-18 from 3-point range. The Privateers were just 6-for-29 (20 percent) in the second half.
The Mean Green shot 40 percent, including 44 percent in the first half. North Texas led 39-21 at halftime.
North Texas out-rebounded the Privateers 46-34. George Odufuwa led the Mean Green with a game-high 13 rebounds.
It was UNO's seventh straight loss.
The Privateers will get a one-week break and will return to action next Thursday at Louisiana-Monroe.
