NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans fell for the
fifth time in six matches, dropping a 6-1 dual to Troy on Saturday afternoon at
the University Tennis Center.
Troy improved to 8-3 on the season by winning their third
straight match while UNO dropped to 1-5 on the season.
The Privateers got off on the wrong foot by being swept in
the doubles' matches for the third time in a row.
The Trojans' Mario Rolemberg and L. Henrique Grangeiro
defeated Benjamin Bouhana and Stepan Siska 8-4 at No. 1 and Guilherme Sahadi and
Anas Rouchdi defeated Guilherme Rebolo and Rohit Chivukula by a similar result
on the No. 3 court.
The other doubles' match was an 8-6 win for Branko Weber
and Xavier Masson over Ben Smith and Abdelrahman Zaki at No. 2, allowing Troy to
wrap up the sweep.
In singles' play, UNO went three sets in a pair of
matches.
Smith defeated Weber 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 at No. 3 for the
Privateers' lone win of the day while Bouhana took the first set against
Grangeiro before retiring in the third set and falling by a 3-6, 6-0, 2-0 result
on the No. 1 court.
Troy won in straight sets in the remaining matches.
UNO will return to the court on Monday against Lamar. The
Cardinals are 6-2 entering a two-match swing through New Orleans and fell 7-0 to
the Privateers at the UTC on Mar. 11, 2009 in the team's last meeting.
