McCalebb Helps European Squad to League Championship

BELGRADE, Serbia - Former University of New Orleans guard Bo McCalebb won a NLB League championship this past week with his team Partizan, defeating Croatian squad Cibona 75-74 in an overtime finish.

In the game, McCalebb's squad led by one point when teammate and former Mississippi State star Lawrence Roberts missed a pair of free throws.

Cibona grabbed the rebound and Bojan Bogdanovich hit a three-pointer with 0.6 seconds left to give the squad a two-point lead igniting a celebration by the home crowd. The celebration was premature however as McCalebb, familiar with late minute heroics from his days as a member of the Privateers, watched as Partizan teammate Dusan Kecman heaved a buzzer beat from three-fourths down the court for the surprising 75-74 win.

McCalebb, who prepped at O. Perry Walker High School in New Orleans, signed with the Belgrade, Serbia based squad this past October. The starting point guard, McCalebb averaged 13.1 points, 3.4 assists and 1.9 steals in 20 EuroLeague games this year.

The championship was the second this year for McCalebb and his Partizan teammates, who earlier claimed the Serbian National Cup.

McCalebb is the midst of his second year of professional basketball overseas. During the 2008-09 season, he played with Turkey squad Mersin Belediyesi, earning a spot in the 2009 Turkish All-Star Game and leading the Turkish League in steals with 2.7 per game.

During his UNO career, McCalebb scored 2,679 points to rank as the top scorer in both UNO and Sun Belt Conference history. At the conclusion of his playing career on the Lakefront, he ranked No. 21 in NCAA Division I history in career points scored.
