UNO-UALR Baseball Washed Out; Trojans Credited With Friday Win

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The UNO-UALR baseball series, which was scheduled to resume Friday's suspended game on Sunday, was canceled due to unplayable field conditions.

The two teams, which had its game suspended in the sixth inning on Friday due to severe thunderstorms, were set to resume the contest on Sunday. However, approximately seven inches of rain this weekend made Gary Hogan Field unplayable.

UALR (22-21, 5-14 Sun Belt Conference) was credited with a 4-3 win in the weather-shortened game. Since only five innings were completed, the game reverts back to the score entering the sixth.

UNO (11-31, 2-20) had tied the game in the top of the sixth and had the bases loaded with nobody out when play was halted on Friday.

The Trojans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, which included a two-out RBI single by Landis Wilson.

UNO answered with three runs in the second thanks to a two-out rally. Freshman shortstop Johnny Thomas hit an RBI double, and Ryan Eden followed with a two-run single to give the visitors the lead.

UALR, though, scored two runs on sacrifice flies by Tyler Cameron and Brock Feldmann in the fourth.

Senior left-hander Adam Champion (5-4) was credited with the win, going five innings while allowing four hits and three runs. He struck out five.

The Privateers will return to action on Friday, hosting Louisiana-Lafayette in a three-game conference series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Maestri Field.
