NEW ORLEANS - T.J. Geith tossed 7 2/3 solid innings, and Chad Keefer hit a solo home run, as Louisiana-Lafayette took a 4-1 win at New Orleans on Saturday.
Geith (5-1) gave up just four hits - all singles - and tied his season high with seven strikeouts, as ULL (30-16, 15-8 Sun Belt Conference) won their 11th straight SBC contest.
Alex Fuselier and Kyle Olasin each went 2-for-4, with Olasin adding an RBI single. The Ragin' Cajuns were held to six hits.
Geith spoiled a strong start for UNO right-hander Joe Zimmermann (0-6). The sophomore worked a career-high eight innings and surrendered five hits and three runs. It was the second straight good outing for Zimmermann, who led the Privateers to a 7-4 win at LSU last Tuesday.
Rodarrick Jones went 3-for-4 for UNO (11-33, 2-22), and Tyler Sanford tallied an RBI single.
ULL's Joey Satriano got the final four outs to record his fourth save.
Keefer got the scoring going with a solo home run in the second, though the Privateers tied it in the bottom of the frame on Sanford's run-scoring single.
ULL used some two-out trickery to break the 1-1 tie in the sixth. With Olasin on third and Matt Goulas on first, Goulas broke for second - allowing Olasin to score after UNO tried to get Goulas.
The Cajuns made it 3-1 in the eighth on a two-out RBI single from Olasin. Lance Marvel (1-for-4) hit an RBI single in the ninth to provide the final margin.
The two teams will wrap up the series at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
