SHREVEPORT, La. - The University of New Orleans swimming and diving team
close their regular season on Saturday with both the men and women
dropping a pair of duals.
The UNO men fell 82-10 to both Centenary and Ouachita Baptist while the women fell 83-7 against their counterparts from both institutions.
Paige Chauvin and
Jarryd Gregoire led the way for their respective teams. Chauvin posted season-best performances in the 100 free (1:07.21) and 100 breast (1:22.84) to led the women while Gregoire finished second in the 100 fly by .01 of a second behind Daniel Karkoska of Ouachita Baptist.
Other top times for the day included
Arielle Hunter in the 50 free (29.99),
Stefania Santos in the 100 free (1:21.21) and Brian Comiskey in the 100 breast (1:12.45).
The meet was the final one for the UNO swimming and diving team ahead of the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships at Delta State, Feb. 10-12.
"The team is working hard towrds the NSISC meet and came up against two tough opponents on Saturday," said head coach
James Winchester. "With some rest, we expect to perform better in 12 days at the championship meet."
The Privateers' competition in the NSISC will be their first and will feature competition against primarily Division II Independent squads.
