NEW ORLEANS – The Privateers erased a double-digit deficit and led with less than a minute left, but UIW escaped Lakefront Arena with a 67-66 victory following a dunk with 1.7 seconds remaining Saturday evening.
New Orleans had three players in double figures, led by
Troy Green's 16 points.
Bryson Robinson, who received his 1,000-point ball pregame, followed with 13 points and
Ahren Freeman returned from injury with 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A 10-0 UNO run gave the Privateers their first lead (54-52 with 7:19 remaining) since the midway point of the opening half.
- The Privateers drained free throws late, but UIW's Marcus Larsson played the heartbreaker with a dunk to put the Cardinals in front one.
- The Cardinals led 39-26 at the half after shooting 57.1 percent from the field.
- The Privateers matched points in the paint (18), but UIW scored 13 points off UNO's eight turnovers.
- Gerrale Gates and Green scored six points apiece to pace the squad.
- Rodney Carson Jr. forced two turnovers and the squad was +9, but the freshman picked up two fouls in 5:09.
OPPOSITION
- Drew Lutz posted 10 first-half points and Dwight Murray came off the bench with nine points and five rebounds.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Privateers wore their Mardi Gras uniforms for the first time at Lakefront Arena.
- Robinson has reached double figures in 27 consecutive games dating back to last season.
