UIW Dunk with 1.7 Ticks Remaining Gives Cards One-Point Win

NEW ORLEANS – The Privateers erased a double-digit deficit and led with less than a minute left, but UIW escaped Lakefront Arena with a 67-66 victory following a dunk with 1.7 seconds remaining Saturday evening.
 
New Orleans had three players in double figures, led by Troy Green's 16 points. Bryson Robinson, who received his 1,000-point ball pregame, followed with 13 points and Ahren Freeman returned from injury with 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Privateers drained free throws late, but UIW's Marcus Larsson played the heartbreaker with a dunk to put the Cardinals in front one.
  • The Cardinals led 39-26 at the half after shooting 57.1 percent from the field.
  • The Privateers matched points in the paint (18), but UIW scored 13 points off UNO's eight turnovers.
  • Gerrale Gates and Green scored six points apiece to pace the squad.
