St. Hilaire Posts 32 Points in Overtime Heartbreak

NEW ORLEANS – Derek St. Hilaire put on a show in the first half with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting and finished with 32 points in New Orleans' 105-101 setback to Nicholls Saturday evening at Lakefront Arena.

The Privateers fall 5-7 in league play and 6-14 overall and the Colonels improved to 15-6 overall and 12-2 in Southland action.

It was the St. Hilaire show in the first half as D Saint posted 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting.

The back-and-forth affair continued in the second until the Ahren Freeman jumper at the 11:46 mark to give UNO a 62-61 edge, its first lead of the game.

Troy Green's and-one with 6:44 remaining knotted the game at 68-all. Freeman swatted away the ensuing Nicholls possession to regain the ball for UNO.

Damion Rosser followed with a dunk with 6:14 to go.

Moments later, Rodney Carson Jr. hit what appeared to be the dagger as his triple gave the Privateers a six-point cushion with 100 seconds remaining in regulation.

UNO split a pair of free throws and Nicholls drained a buzzer beater to force overtime (85-all).

Nicholls three-point barrage in OT gave the Colonels the road win 105-101.

Green finished with 21 points and six rebounds, Rosser posted 17 points, nine rebounds and two blocks and Freeman added 10 points, seven boards, three dimes and two blocks.

For the Colonels, Najee Garvin posted 28 points and 14 rebounds and Ty Gordon added 26 points and six assists.

The Privateers shot 54.5 percent from the floor and Nicholls went 39-of-76 from the field.
