NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team picked up their second win in as many days as they defeated the Loyola Wolfpack (1-2) by a score of 7-0 on Thursday afternoon at the University Tennis Center.
The 7-0 start surpassed the 2009 team, which began that year 6-0 and is the best start on record in program history.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Privateers got out to a fast start in the outer courts in doubles.
Akos Kotorman and
Max Heinzel were up a double break early as they won at flight one.
Dhruv Tangri and
David Tesic secured the first four games on their way to a 6-2 victory.
Marcel Volz and
Luke Joujan were pushed to a tiebreak at flight two. The Wolfpack broke serve to force the tiebreak and gained an early 4-2 advantage. However, Volz and Joujan came back firing, winning the next five points to win the match.
The Privateers continued to assert their authority in singles.
Matthew Armbruster, playing up at flight four, did not drop a game in his singles victory.
The Wolfpack were held to winning just 16 games across the six singles matches. Tangri secured a 6-1, 6-1 victory at flight five. Joujan only lost two games in a 6-2, 6-0 victory.
