Men's Tennis Defeated by Nationally Ranked LSU

BATON ROUGE – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team ran up against a tough opponent and were ultimately defeated 7-0 by the 50th ranked LSU Tigers on Sunday evening. It was the third match against a nationally ranked opponent this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tigers raced out to take the doubles point as they won 6-1 at flight three with Ben Koch and Nick Watson. LSU also secured a 6-2 win at flight one to take the first point of the evening.

In singles, LSU won two matches without dropping a game. Kent Hunter won 6-0, 6-0 at flight two and Vlad Lobak duplicated the feat with a 6-0, 6-0 win at flight three.

The clinching point was won when Ronald Hohmann won the last five games of the second set to take a 6-2, 6-2 victory at flight one.

The remaining three matches saw the Tigers in control with only one set going beyond eight total games. The Privateers' losses have come against LSU, Louisiana and Rice who were all nationally ranked by the ITA at the time of those matches.

NEXT UP
The Privateers will return home in a week to face Xavier (La.) on Mar. 21. First serve is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the University Tennis Center.
