NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans men's basketball program (9-18, SLC 6-10) makes shots down the stretch behind
Jordan Johnson's 26 points to take down the Nicholls Colonels (88-82) in their final home stand Thursday night.
New Orleans saw a lead as large as 19 in the second half and opened up the game 16-2 at the 14:11 mark. The Colonels made several attempts at a comeback but could only get within five points at 2:48 in the second half. They were led by Marek Nelson, who had 20 points.
Johnson made five of the Privateers' seven three pointers and had a season-high 19 field goal attempts.

K'mani Doughty joined Johnson in double-digit scoring. Vincent matched his career-high and put up his third double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks. Doughty put up 12 points, while Wilson-Rouse put up 11.
The Privateers closed out the game shooting 50% from the field at 30-of-60. With 14 offensive rebounds, New Orleans neared its season-high of 15 offensive rebounds recorded against UIW. They also had 18 assists and outrebounded the Colonels 40-38. Both teams connected on sevens three-pointers.
UP NEXT: New Orleans travels to Lamar in Beaumont, Tx., with hopes of getting a sweep over the Cardinals while continuing their late season push.
