Men's Tennis Tops Bryant, Will Play Lamar in Semifinals

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers men's team overcame losing the first point of the day as they controlled singles in a 4-1 win over the Bryant Bulldogs on Thursday. The win advances the Privateers to the semifinals.

Bryant had visions of an upset after taking the first point of the afternoon. Marcus Macaulay and Diego Serra Sparrow provided the clinching point. After breaking serve at 5-5, Macaulay and Serra held through the changeover. That was on the back of a 6-4 win for Bryant at flight three doubles.

In singles, though it was all Privateers starting with Luke Joujan. One of three First Team All-Southland members, Joujan again flexed his muscle in a relentless match where he did not lose a game against Myles Peterson.

Karim Al-Amin followed with another singles win in his freshman campaign. Al-Amin won the first set by a single service break and was up 5-2 on serve. His opponent, Serra, was up 40-15 on Karim's serve but Al-Amin came roaring back to win the game and the match.

Max Heinzel overcame a slow start in which he lost the first four games of the first set. From there, Heinzel only lost one game against Leonardo Mileikowsky during a 6-4, 6-1 victory.

The win was clinched by David Tesic. Playing in just his third singles match of the season, Tesic held off a late rally to win the first set 6-4. In the second, Tesic was on serve at 4-3 when he gained a late service break. A subsequent hold gave the Privateers a spot in the semifinals where they will face Lamar.
