Lenny Vangilder is in his first year as the Privateer Athletic Foundation's Corporate Sales Manager.
 
Vangilder joined the PAF, the fundraising arm of the University of New Orleans Athletics Department, in September 2009 to develop and maintain UNO Athletics corporate sponsors.
 
"Lenny has so much experience in college athletics that will be invaluable to us," said Mike Bujol, UNO Interim Director of Athletics. "He has numerous contacts in and around the city, and he will be a big addition to our staff."
 
Vangilder joins PAF after working nearly 11 years managing marketing and external relations at the New Orleans Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots.

Prior to that, he worked for more than eight years at Tulane -- serving in the school's athletic media relations office.
 
He began his career uptown in 1989 as the Associate Sports Information Director and was later promoted to the school's Assistant Athletic Director in 1994.
 
Vangilder has worked in numerous public relations and communications fields, including hosting a weekly radio show on WGSO, doing freelance work in television production, as well as sports blogging for NewOrleans.com.
 
The New Orleans native is a graduate of Loyola (N.O.) and Archbishop Rummel High School.
