Biography

SENIOR SEASON (2014-15)
Southland All-Academic selection...Finished 6-12 in singles during the spring with a 3-3 mark in conference...First Team All-Southland doubles pick along with Blake Gregor after going 13-4...Finished the season by winning four of the last five matches in singles including back-to-back conference victories in three sets over foes from Incarnate Word and Lamar.

JUNIOR SEASON (2013-14)
Was 9-7 in singles play, which included a 4-0 start...Won back-to-back three-set matches to close the regular season and alternated mostly between the 1 and 2 position...Was 8-8 in doubles play with all of those wins coming with teammate Christoffer Appelgren.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2012-13)
Southland & Louisiana Newcomer of the Year… Began spring of 2013 as only Louisiana & SLC player nationally ranked at No. 110 after winning Big Easy Classic with five straight wins (all over Louisiana players)… First Privateer to be ranked top 125 since 2003…  Defeated Tulane’s Idan Mark at No. 1 court after rallying from set down…  Was 4-2 in three-set matches… Finished 15-12 overall in singles’ play and 8-12 in the spring… Teamed with Abdelrahman Zaki to go undefeated in SLC play at No. 2 court to earn league championship at position… Duo was also named All-SLC second-team… Posted a 10-7 doubles’ record, including 9-5 in the spring… Partnered with David Malmgren for doubles’ point clinching 8-6 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in SLC Championship match… Named SLC Player of the Week on Jan. 29 after straight sets win over Oral Roberts and a three-set victory against Mark of Tulane.

VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH
Posted a 3-1 record at VCU, defeating players from Drexel, Georgetown and Winthrop in straight sets... Lone loss came against Duke.

Born Rui Pedro Mendes Silva on May 5, 1992... Parents, Adriana Araujo Silva and Maria do Carmo Fontao Mendes Silva... Siblings, Vitor and Adriana Silva... Pre-Med major.
