Overall thoughts on the game
“We’re frustrated in the way we played. We should have come out and been a lot more efficient offensively. We had some wide-open looks early that just didn’t fall, we didn’t convert and it snowballed on us. Defensively, we didn’t play at the level we have all during the preseason and our scrimmages. We didn’t play at that level at any point. I’m frustrated for our guys that we didn’t come out and show the progress that we’ve made and that we’ve seen on a day-to-day basis.”
On who stood out for the Privateers
“Christavious came out and played well offensively. Kevin Hill was really good, coming out and getting himself 13 rebounds. He set the tone again from where he was last year. Mike Zeno had really good minutes for us at the wing and forward positions. We’re really proud of Mike and his development in the offseason and how hard he’s worked. Erik [Thomas] was good. He left some points on the table and he’ll get better.”
On all five of the newcomers who traveled getting time on the court
“The one positive out of this is that everyone got a chance to get their feet wet and can see where they are. It’s always good to get them in the deep end of the pool and let them swim.”
On having to turn around and play at Duquesne on Monday
“Hopefully, we won’t see this level of performance again and we’ll play at a higher level on Monday. The good part about this is we’ve got a quick turnaround. We’ve got a short time to fix things and get ready for a very, very good Duquesne team, who scores at a very high rate.”
