WHAT IS THE PRIVATEER SCHOLARSHIP FUND?

We made the decision in 2020 to rename the Privateer Club the Privateer Scholarship Fund. The primary reason is simple: we want our current donors, potential donors, and the Greater New Orleans community to know exactly where their support is going – to fund the scholarships of our Privateer student-athletes.
  • This is a philanthropic endeavor designed to better serve our student-athletes through:
    Providing fund raised support for all athletic scholarships – a $2M expense annually.
  • Providing additional support for nutritional needs and expanding our Sports Medicine program to provide for enhanced mental health training and support.
  • Providing additional scholarship support for the two teams that are not yet fully funded: Track & Field and Beach Volleyball.
As a thank you for your generosity and to encourage comradery among our supporters, participating in the Privateer Scholarship Fund will include some exclusive benefits, with access to the popular Spotlights hospitality room at Basketball and special hospitality opportunities at Baseball. Dear Privateer Nation,
Thank you for your interest in the Privateer Scholarship Fund (PSF). The PSF is an incredibly important endeavor for Privateer Athletics, as all contributions go directly towards providing the scholarships for our student-athletes. Supporting the Privateer Scholarship Fund allows for additional student-athletes to receive scholarship support and expands the resources needed to increase nutritional and mental health support for your Privateers.

This expanded support is already starting to show results on the courts, fields and tracks. We’re proud of the recent successes of our teams, made possible in part by Privateer Scholarship Fund support:

  • Women’s Cross Country’s won the 2022 Southland Conference championship, the first in their history.
     
  • Men’s Tennis’ won the 2022 Southland Conference tournament championship, also their first in New Orleans history.
     
  • Volleyball improved by 14 wins from 2021 to 2022.
     
  • Both Men’s and Women’s Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field programs recorded record finishes within the Southland conference. The four total sports each finished either fourth or fifth in conference, a new all-time high.
     
  • Top-3 Southland Conference finishes from Men’s Cross Country, Men’s Basketball, Baseball, Beach Volleyball, Golf and Women’s Tennis also propelled Privateer Athletics to an all-time record finish of fifth in the Southland Conference all-sports competition, the Commissioner’s Cup.

All donors to the Privateer Scholarship Fund receive numerous benefits, including access to the popular Spotlights hospitality room at Basketball games and pre-game tailgates at select Baseball games. There is no better way to support New Orleans Athletics while cheering on your Privateers.

Donors to the fund will receive a gift acknowledgment letter for the tax deductible portion which excludes the fair market value of any benefits received. If you wish to decline all benefits, please check "decline benefits" on the donor form.
