Biography
o 2007-08: Wrapped up one of the greatest careers in UNO and Sun Belt history... Became the Sun Belt’s all-time leading scorer in January and finished his career ranked 21st on NCAA career list with 2,679 points...Preseason SBC Player of the Year was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year...Became first player in school history to win defensive honor...Was also a first-team all-district selection by USBWA and NABC...Led the league in scoring and steals and was in the league's top 10 in field goal percentage, 3-point field goal percentage and assists...Averaged 24.2 points per game in league play...Scored 30 points or more in four SBC games and has 20 points or more in 14 of 18 league games...Had season-high 33 points in back-to-back games vs. FAU and Troy...Had 742 points for the season, which ranks third on UNO single-season list...Set new UNO record with 249 career steals, which was also good for fourth in Sun Belt history...Led UNO to non-conference wins at NC State and Colorado...From Tulane coach Dave Dickerson: "He is one of the best players in the nation, and I don't know if anyone can stop him one-on-one. o 2006-07: Was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year after having arguably the best offensive season in UNO history...Became the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,937 career points, which is ranked fifth in the Sun Belt Conference...Also set a single-season school record with 776 points...Led Sun Belt in scoring with 25 points per game, which was good for sixth nationally...Also averaged a league-best 25.2 ppg in league-only games...Was the only player in the Sun Belt to be ranked in the league's top 10 in scoring, rebounding and assists...Led Privateers with 6.6 rebounds per game and led the Sun Belt with two steals per contest...Became the first Privateer to lead team in scoring, rebounds and steals since Tony Harris did it in 1988-89...Set a career high with 39 points in double-overtime win over North Texas on Dec. 16 and had a career-best 15 rebounds in final regular season game vs. UL Monroe on Feb. 24...Scored 20 points or more in 25 of UNO's 31 games and had 30 points or more in six games, including three of the final five games.
o 2005-06: Was averaging 19 points and nearly four steals per game before suffering broken thumb in fourth game of season at Mississippi State on Nov. 30....Had 28 points in season-opening win against Belhaven and added 23 points and three 3-pointers against Tulane in second contest of year...Received medical redshirt.
o 2004-05: The preseason Sun Belt Player of the Year, as picked by the league's coaches, was named first team All-Sun Belt, All-Louisiana and a NABC District 8 first-teamer, as well as a Basketball Times South Region honoree...named the city's amateur athlete of the month for February by the Nokia Sugar Bowl...scored in double figures in 29 of 30 games...established school record by scoring 20 or more points in 15 straight games...broke mark previously held by both Butch Webster (1970-71) and Ledell Eackles (1986-87) who each did it 13 straight times...has four 30-plus scoring affairs in his career...first UNO player to lead the Privateers in points and assists per game in a season since Tyrone Garris tallied 15.2 points and 3.7 assists in 1995-96...notched 10 or more field goals 12 times with the final time coming at North Texas (2/24) in which he collected 24 points...poured in 30 versus Denver (1/29) as well as having seven assists...scored the Privateers final six points en route to a 29-point performance in a league road win at Middle Tennessee... scored 23 against New Mexico State (1/13), 15 coming in the final half, as the Privateers rallied for the win...hit four free throws in final 15 seconds to help seal the win...second highest point total of his career came against South Alabama (1/8) with 34 points, the most ever by a UNO sophomore in a conference game as well as the most ever points scored in Lakefront Arena...hit career-best 13 shots from the floor and made 72.2 percent of his field goals versus the Jaguars...added 26 points against No. 18 Alabama...averaged 25.7 points against three SEC opponents during year...added career-best six steals against the Crimson Tide...tallied 25 points and a career-best tying 9 rebounds against USM to go along with four assists and four steals...scored seven of UNO's first 13 points as the Privateers jumped out to a 13-2 advantage over the Golden Eagles to cruise to the win...scored a career-high 35 points at LSU (11/30)...the scoring outburst against the Tigers is the most ever by a UNO sophomore in a game...averaged 21.7 points in three games at the BCA Invitational in Raleigh, N.C., where he was tabbed to the all-tournament team...scored the first 11 points of the game for the Privateers against Houston en route to 26 point performance... has started in 45 straight games....ranked first in the league in scoring, along with seventh in assists per game (3.7), sixth in steals (1.8), seventh in assist to turnover ration (1.4) and 13th in offensive rebounds per game (2.4)...his points per game average (22.6) tied the sixth highest for a single season at UNO along with Ledell Eackles (1986-87) and his point total (679) ranks fifth...his 55 steals is fifth on the single-season UNO charts and his 34.9 minutes per game ranks ninth.
o 2003-04: Led the Privateers in scoring (13.1), steals (42), field goals (143), free throws made (106) and free throws attempted (175) on his way to becoming the second Privateer to win the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year Award...the other was Tory Walker following the 1997-98 season ... his scoring total ranked 13th in the Sun Belt Conference and steals mark was 11th...took 52 more free throws than the next closest Privateer during the season...started the final 15 games as the team went 9-6 over that span including winning seven of the final 10 games of the season...also averaged 15.6 points over that 15-game stretch while the team's point production rose from 64.8 to 69.7 points per game... scored in double digits in 17 of the final 20 games...led the team in scoring eight times during the season including 17 points in his debut against Texas State (11/22) and a season-high 31 against North Texas (3/7) in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament...scored 59 points in the SBC tourney to be named Most Outstanding Player -- the first freshman to ever receive that honor... tallied at least six rebounds in six of his final nine games from the point guard spot...had 46 of 62 assists come in his final 16 games...scored 15 points against No. 6 ranked Texas (12/14)...scored 20 points in first career start against Western Kentucky (1/22)...scored 16 of his game-high 18 points in the second half in a win over South Alabama (1/8)...hit driving layup with less than five seconds in overtime and then stole subsequent inbounds pass to seal win over South Alabama (2/19)...helped wrap up Samford (11/29) game with steal in final moments...first freshman to lead the team in scoring in a season and first frosh to lead team in steals since Gabe Corchiani did it in 1984-85...participated in the adidas All-American Camp in Suwanee, Ga.
o High School: A standout performer at O. Perry Walker High School for coach Jackson Manuel, Jr., a UNO alumnus...played five years of high school basketball as he began on varsity during his eighth grade year...averaged 32.1 points per game...named a Top 100 player, he garnered all-New Orleans honors from the Times-Picayune as well as a Louisiana Sports Writers Association 4A all-state selection...selected to the North South all-star game...scored 76 points in a game against Benjamin Franklin High...helped the Chargers reach the state 4A regional.
