Kerwin Forges

Kerwin Forges enters his fourth season with the New Orleans Privateers as a men's basketball assistant coach.  Forges joined the staff prior to the 2011-12 season, joining his former collegiate coach Mark Slessinger.

A former collegiate standout at Northwestern State, Forges works with the men's basketball team's post players.  During the 2013-14 season, the Privateers post produced two student-athletes that finished in the Southland's top 10 in rebounding: Cory Dixon and Kevin Hill.  Dixon was named all-Soutland, leading the Privateers in scoring and rebounding.  Dixon was atop the league in rebounding for the majority of the season along with being in the top 20 individual players in the nation, before being slowed by an ankle injury.

Dixon finsihed second in the league with a 7.7 rebounds per contest average, while Hill rounded out his sophomore season in eighth with 6.9 boards per game.

In his first season on the Lakefront, Forges worked with the team's leading scorers Lovell Cook and Antonio Wertz. Cook was named an all-Louisiana third-team selection in 2012.

Prior to coming to the Lakefront, Forges spent 2006-11 as an assistant coach at St. Mary's Natchitoches. Forges helped guide St. Mary's to three district titles while working under head coach Todd Matney.

A consistent presence on the floor for the Demons, Forges made 89 appearances at the Southland Conference school over three years, topping 45 percent shooting from the field. The native of Marrero was also a career 77 percent free throw shooter.

Forges, a former John Ehret prep standout, resides in New Orleans.
