Matt Winsberg joined the University of New Orleans men’s basketball staff in the summer of 2017. He worked directly with director of basketball operations Corey Schmidt and head coach Mark Slessinger as the assistant director of basketball operations.
 
A New Orleans native, Winsberg will assist with travel, scouting, equipment, film breakdown and provide academic support. A former student manager at LSU, Winsberg graduated from Louisiana State in 2017 with a bachelors in sports administration.
 
In 2017-18, the Privateers advanced to the second round of the College Basketball Invitational as UNO made back-to-back postseason appearances for the first time since the late 1990s.
 
Winsberg was an assistant coach at Christian Life High School in Baton Rouge in 2014-15 and Isadore Newman High in New Orleans in 2015-16. Winsberg is a graduate of Newman where he had a solid prep career and served as the team captain his senior season.
 
The son of Michael and Connie Winsberg, Matt has two younger siblings; Stafford and Meyer. He resides in New Orleans.
