Biography
o2006-07: Started first five games of the season and got six starts overall...Scored career-high 11 points to lead Privateers to first win of the season against Jacksonville State on Nov. 10...Made six of first 13 3-pointers attempted...Finished year 12-of-27 from 3-point range and averaged 2.6 points per game...Will graduate in spring semester with a degree in English.
o2005-06: Walk-on guard was important addition to squad, playing 106 minutes in first year of Division I basketball...Played in 14 games, starting four, and averaged 1.2 points per contest. Strong shooter, attempted 23 shots on the year (22 from 3-point land) and was 5-for-22 from behind the arc. Was one of three players on roster from metro New Orleans area.
Prior to New Orleans: Lettered two years at Loyola University...appeared in just seven games as a freshman, scoring four points along with two assists and a rebound...as a sophomore he saw action in 29 games including two starts...averaged 1.3 points and 0.7 rebounds as a sophomore...hit 42 percent of his shots from the floor that season (13-of-31)...named to the Alpha Honor Roll for the 2003-04 academic year.
High School: Attended Brother Martin High School where he participated four years in both track and basketball...earned the school's Key to the Gym Award in 2002...a four-year honor roll recipient and the Golden Crusader Award in 2002.
Personal: Born Dec., 27,1983 in Metairie, La....son of John and Christine Barnitz...father is an education professor at UNO...has one brother, Peter, and two sisters, Rachel and Mary Sarah...brother Peter was a student-athlete at Loyola, where he lettered in both basketball and track...a youth leader and worship leader at Victory Fellowship Youth Group.
