Prior to UNO
- Spent a year at Prairie View A&M, appearing in 18 games in 2019-20
- Transferred to PVAMU after nine games as a freshman with UTSA

High School
- Three-year starter  for Lamar High
- Led the Lamar HS to three consecutive playoff appearances, a 2014 Spring Branch Tournament title and a 2016 Don Coleman Classic title
- In 2016-17 as a junior, Bynum was named the Don Colman Classic MVP and first team all-district honoree with per game averages of 25 points, 8.5 assists and 1.3 steals
- Entering his senior year, was named a candidate VYPE magazine player of the year
- Plays AAU ball with Texas Elite
