Needing a strong pitching performance to get the ball rolling and stop a nation-leading 25-game losing streak, head coach Bruce Peddie got what he was looking for as Scott Stonestreet delivered.

In just his second collegiate start, Stonestreet threw seven innings of shutout baseball while yielding just seven hits as UNO defeated San Diego 2-0 in the nightcap of a doubleheader. The shutout victory for the Privateers was the first since a 10-0 win over Louisiana-Lafayette in the 2008 Sun Belt Conference tournament on May 24, 2008.
