Hunter Smith posted a career-best round on Friday with a 1-under 71 in the Derrall Foreman Intercollegiate and ended up doing himself one better a day later as he shot a 2-under 70 on the second day.

The two round score of 141 placed Smith at 3-under par for the tournament and just two strokes behind the individual medalists. The third place individual finish by the Baton Rouge native was the best for a Privateer since Oscar Zetterwall won individual medalist honors at the 2010 Sun Belt Conference Championships.
