An all-tournament selection at the Texas Southern Invitational this past weekend, Laila Hansen is the first UNOPrivateers.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the 2012-13 academic year.

The sophomore from Chugiak, Alaska averaged 3.4 kills and 2.8 digs per frame to lead the UNO volleyball team to a 2-2 mark.  The kill total paced the Privateers offensively while the digs ranked second on the team behind freshman libero Lauren Levy.

Hansen concluded the week by putting together three straight double-double performances, all at the TSU Invite. The double-double streak is the first of three matches or more since Dobrilla Kovacevic put together four such efforts in a row in Sept. 2008.

Hansen's double-double string began with a career-high 22 kills and 12 digs against Texas Southern. The outside hitter continued her run of success with 12 kills and 11 digs in a three-set win against Mississippi Valley State, before notching 16 kills and 16 digs in a victory over Prairie View A&M.

Hansen and the Privateers will seek to extend their winning streak to three matches against Alcorn State this Wednesday. UNO has not won more than two games in a row since closing the 2010 season with five straight victories.
