Matti Mortimore continues to put forward a successful campaign for the New Orleans Privateer track and field team, once again earning UNOPrivateers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.

For the fifth time this season, Mortimore was victorious in the javelin.

Competing in the Samford Invitational on Saturday, Mortimore registered a 230-02 on his final throw of the day. The throw was the second longest of Mortimore's career and just off the school-record 231-10 he established two weeks prior at the McNeese Spring Time Classic.

No other competitor was within 14 feet of Mortimore as Southeastern Louisiana's Derek Hampton finished second with a throw of 216-05. Currently ranked No. 15 in the nation in the javelin, Mortimore is ranked No. 7 in the East Region and currently slated to compete in the NCAA Regional Championships in late May hosted by North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.
