NEW ORLEANS (June 27, 2006) - University of New Orleans Outfielder Jason Schwab has signed a minor league free agent contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Schwab had a .363 batting average his senior season, while hitting a team-leading 10 homeruns and knocking in 50 runs. He scored 56 times on the season and swiped 28 bases.
The Chalmette product made the All-Sun Belt Tournament team after hitting a blistering .462 with four runs, five RBI and a pair of stolen bases. He was also fifth in the conference in stolen bases.
“I'm happy that I am getting a chance to prove myself on the next level,” Schwab said. “I have played baseball pretty much my entire life and I am glad that I am getting an opportunity to pursue my dream of becoming a major leaguer.”
Schwab has been assigned to the Class A Vero Beach Dodgers in Vero Beach, Fla.
