Arkansas State Defeats UNO Volleyball 3-0 in Final Regular Season Match

NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans fell to Arkansas State 3-0 (30-25,30-17,30-23) on Sunday afternoon in their final regular season match.

UNO (16-15, 10-8 SBC) was led by Dobrilla Kovacevic and Lindsey Loyd, who had 10 kills apiece.

Jaci Bayley had 26 assists while Kovacevic was the lone Privateers with double-digit digs, registering 13.

ASU (12-18, 8-10 SBC) had a match-high 11 kills from Robin Aaron while Kristen Catalane added 10 kills for the Indians, who clinched a Sun Belt Tournament berth with the win.

Katie Peil's 31 assists paced an Indian attack that hit .204 for the match. Erin Neely had 13 digs and Laura Bennett 11 digs on the defensive end for ASU.

ASU broke open a 4-4 game in the third frame, scoring five of the next six points. The Indians would let the Privateers as close as two, but would score the final three points to take the match.

In the second game, ASU fell behind 3-1 before going on a 7-0 run to take a 8-3 lead that they would not relinquish. The Indians would extend their lead to as much as 13, cruising to a 30-17 win to take a 2-0 lead into the break.

The Indians came out strong in the first game hitting .314 for the frame while putting a stop to the UNO attack, picking up six blocks.

UNO will next be in action this Thursday as the sixth seed in the conference tournament hosted by Denver with the winner of the tournament staking claim to the league's auto-bid to the NCAA tournament.

The opponent and match time will be announced on Monday by the Sun Belt.
