McCalebb Scores 26 as UNO Beats William Carey

Box Score

NEW ORLEANS ? Bo McCalebb had a game-high 26 points and Shaun Reynolds added 14 points and eight assists as New Orleans rolled past NAIA-member William Carey 100-81 on Saturday at the Human Performance Center.

McCalebb, who was 10-of-15 from the field, tied former South Alabama guard Jeff Hodge for second place on the Sun Belt Conference all-time scoring list with 2,221 career points. He is 99 points shy of passing South Florida's Charlie Bradley for first place.

UNO put six scorers in double figures, as the Privateers (11-2) won their fourth straight. Kechan Myers came off the bench with 13 points on 6-of-6 shooting, while Kyndall Dykes and James Parlow each tallied 12 points. T.J. Worley had 11.

The Privateers shot a season-best 60 percent from the field and were 10-of-17 from the 3-point arc. UNO has shot 53 percent or better from the field in each of its last four games.

Kyle Lamonte, a former guard at Southern Mississippi, led the Crusaders (8-4) with 24 points. Dexter Middleton chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds.  William Carey shot 50 percent from the field, including 55 percent in the second half.

The Privateers built as much as a 22-point lead in the first half before taking a 52-35 halftime advantage. McCalebb had 13 points in the half on 5-of-7 shooting. The Privateers shot 62 percent during the frame and forced 10 William Carey turnovers.

William Carey outscored the Privateers 16-7 during the first five minutes of the second half to close the deficit to 59-51. But back-to-back 3-pointers by McCalebb and Parlow gave the Privateers a double-figure lead it never let go.

It marks the first time since 1991 that UNO has won 10 non-conference games in a season. The 10-2 non-league mark also cinched the best non-conference winning percentage (83) in school history.

UNO will return to Sun Belt Conference at 7 p.m. on Wednesday when the squad hosts Arkansas-Little Rock.
